What is a dental crown?
A dental crown is the “cap” which goes on top of your tooth or the visible part of a natural tooth. The crown restores the tooth’s shape, size, strength and appearance. It helps protect the health of the remaining portion of the tooth.
To place a crown on a tooth, the tooth will need to be reshaped by filing down the top and sides to make space for the new crown to be placed. If the tooth is damaged, it may need to be “built up” with special materials that provide new structure so the crown can be cemented to the remaining tooth.
Whether you need to restore the teeth for health reasons or simply to change the aesthetics of an unappealing tooth, STAR Dental will supply beautiful U.S-quality crowns.
What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge replaces a missing tooth. Bridges typically span three teeth, sometimes four. The dental bridge will replace a tooth and uses the adjacent teeth of the empty space as anchors. The anchor teeth will need to be reshaped by filing down the tops and sides to make room for the crowns to be placed over the top of them and replace a pontic (fake tooth) will be used to replace the missing tooth between the anchor teeth.
What are veneers?
Veneers, typical to cosmetic dentistry, have become increasingly popular over the last few years. Veneers are the treatment behind the “Hollywood smile” that you often see with celebrities. They are a thin cover, made of porcelain or Lithium Disilicate (Emax), which adhere to your natural teeth and create the look that you desire.
They are often used to correct aesthetic problems such as stains, chips, crooked or misshapen teeth, and uneven spacing.
